Study Hub: your personal Japanese coach
The Study Hub is Nihongo to Japan's free, no-signup personal learning brain: it remembers every question you answer across the whole site, keeps estimating your JLPT level, maps your weak spots, and lines up what to study next — and it follows you across devices. The more you use it, the better it knows you.
Why this is more than another question bank
Anyone can build a question bank. What actually sets us apart is a study brain that tracks your practice across the entire site, estimates your JLPT level, analyses your weak spots, and carries over between devices.
How it actually gets to know you
1. Your personal loop (this data stays on your device): you start learning → you answer across the site → level estimate → five-axis skill radar → weak spots surface → targeted materials → you practise again → your analysis updates.
2. The site-wide anonymous loop (this makes the questions better): everyone’s anonymous answers → real difficulty per question → broken questions flagged → better recommendations → the whole engine sharpens.
These are two different things and we keep them separate. Loop 1 — your personal learning profile — lives on your own device; we hold no copy. Loop 2 uses de-identified answer statistics (question ID, right or wrong, level — no name, email, or IP), used only to calibrate questions and recommendations, never for advertising and never sold, and you can opt out in one click on our privacy policy page.
Four core abilities
- Automatic site-wide tracking: whether you drill in the Challenge zone, work through self-study lessons, practise verb conjugation, or answer the daily question, every answer is logged to your profile automatically.
- Adaptive level estimate: starting at N3, it moves up when you are right and down when you are wrong, estimating your JLPT band (N5–N1) in minutes — aligned with the real JLPT, statistically validated, and sharper the more you answer.
- Skill radar & weak-spot analysis: it breaks your performance into five axes — particles, word forms, sentence patterns, set phrases and vocabulary — and tells you in plain words where you are strong, where you are weak, and what to fix first.
- Daily review + targeted materials: due reviews rise to the top (spaced repetition, so it sticks), and every weak spot links straight to the matching free article and practice.
Pick up where you left off, on any device
By default there is no login — your learning data lives in your browser, the fastest and most private option. Want to continue between phone and laptop? A single sync code carries your progress across, with no account and no email required.
What you'll see when you open it
- Today: reviews that are due plus one suggested question.
- Your level + skill radar: your estimated JLPT level with a five-axis radar and a plain-language read-out.
- Weak-spot ranking: ranked from your actual answers, not a generic list.
- Targeted materials: free articles and practice matched to your level.
Always free, your data your call
The Study Hub, like everything on the site, is free forever — no paywall, no email wall. Your personal learning profile stays on your device by default, and de-identified answer statistics are uploaded to calibrate question difficulty (no name, email, or IP — opt out any time in our privacy policy).
FAQ
Do I need to sign up or pay?
No. No login, free, no email required.
Is the level estimate accurate?
The rules are aligned with the real JLPT and statistically validated, and all your site-wide practice keeps feeding in.
How is this different from the level test?
The level test is a quick placement; the Study Hub folds in every question you answer afterwards across the site.
